Why We Give

Giving is an act of faith and obedience

Giving is trusting God what what you have been given. We know that we are cerated to be generous people and that our giving impacts the world around us. When we give we are honor God and his principles. There is an expectation for every Christian to have a giving spirit.

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and the best part of everything you produce.” Proverbs 3:9-10 (NLT)

Giving is a test of the heart

When we give from our heart and passion we are giving with the true heart of God. We are never more like Christ than when we give and serve. Our heart will guide us in how we should give to impact others.

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)

Giving frees us from the hold of greed

‘Greed’ tells us that what we have is ours, when is actuality all that we have been given is from God. We are not owners, but rather stewards or managers of what God has given to us. When we truly experience God our mindset on giving will change from ourselves to others. When we open our finances to bless the kingdom, we destroy the hold of greed in our lives.

“No one can serve two masters, for you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24 (NLT)

Giving is Planting Seeds for a Future Harvest

Giving activates the promises of God. Giving is also a principle that shows God our faith in what we are needing to see in our lives. When we are faithful in small things, God will trust us with greater things.

“You cannot reap tomorrow what you have not sown today.” - Pastor Wayne Sheppard

“Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”
2 Corinthians 9:6
